Determining the Rating Average for a Title Result (norm)
9.0. Determining the Rating Average for a Title Result (norm)
9.1 |
In round-robin tournaments, the rating average for title
purposes is determined before the start of the tournament. |
9.2 |
In a Swiss, Scheveningen or Team Tournament, the rating average
for title purposes is determined once all a players' opponents are established.
A candidate then considers himself and all his opponents as a round-robin
tournament for this purpose. |
9.21 |
In the case of applications for any Grandmaster title, a player
may indicate that an apparently inadequate result (according to the Category
Results Chart) is good if it fulfils the Performance Results requirement (i.e.
2600+ performance for GM, 2450+ for IM, 2400+ for WGM and 2250+ for WIM (GA
'98)). In respect of this calculation, a player may choose to include or exclude
himself from the calculation of the tournament average. (GA '95). |
9.3 |
Unrated players will be entered at 2000. |
9.31 |
In round-robin tournaments, results against unrated players who
score zero are not included in computing title norms. |
9.4 |
One GM aged 55 and over, who in the past qualified at least for
the Candidates' Semi-finals, is awarded a temporary Honorary Rating. Only one
player in a tournament can hold this title. This Honorary Rating shall be equal
to the average rating of the other participants. This is then valid for
calculation of the Tournament Category and the rating changes of the other
players. However, the GM with Honorary Rating shall have his rating change
computed on his actual rating. |
